MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR OUR AUGUST 15th MEETING. THEN OUR EVENT OF THE YEAR! AUGUST 16, OUR 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION WILL BE AT HOME TOWN BUFFET IN CHICO AT 6:30PM. 

We hope all GEARS members will be present. Please extend an invitation to all other clubs whose members may wish to join us!

The Golden Empire Amateur Radio Society was organized in August 13, 1939 by a group of eleven amateurs from through out the North Sacramento Valley. GEARS is located in Chico California affiliated with American Radio Relay League (ARRL). GEARS members have an interest in many aspects of amateur radio, HF, VHF, UHF and other modes and make every effort to maximum representation from all interests segments, and minimize the influence of any one special interest.
 
We are a non-profit organization whose purpose is to further the exchange of information and cooperation among members and to promote radio knowledge and to advance the general interest of amateur radio service. GEARS as a group, are committed to serving the communities in which we live and welcome new opportunities to do so. We can provide communications for races, walks, bike rides and other local and regional public events.
 
In the event of a natural or man made disaster and with the assistance of Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), is called upon; GEARS members are prepared to station themselves where needed to provide these necessary emergency communications. The Golden Empire Amateur Radio Society dedicated to education, public service, recreational purposes of amateur radio and to elevate the standards of operating practices and ethics in amateur radio communications.
